Exfoliating using a body scrub or loofah can help boost the health and appearance of your skin. Making the skin look brighter because it removes the top layer of dead skin cells. It can also stimulate the production of collagen which may help your skin stay firm and radiant. Another benefit of exfoliation before using any creams or tans is the cream/tan will be able to penetrate more deeply instead of sitting on the surface.
It’s generally safe to exfoliate your skin two to three times a week. If you have really sensitive skin, once a week is plenty.
Overexfoliating your skin can leave it dry, sensitive, and irritated.
Honey & Lemon sugar scrub
Honey has antibacterial properties, antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.
Not only can honey help repair skin tissue and protect against UV damage, it may also help kill germs on the skin.
Honey can easily be combined with granules and oil to make a skin-nourishing body scrub. After massaging the scrub into your skin, be sure to rinse your skin off thoroughly to prevent stickiness.
Lemon helps to reduce the appearance of dark spots, brighten and tone the skin.
Ingredients
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
2 tbsp. honey
Zest of 1 lemon
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
Directions
Add brown sugar, lemon zest, coconut oil, and honey to a mixing bowl.
Mix the ingredients thoroughly, and add more coconut oil if it’s too crumbly.
Once you’ve reached the desired consistency, spoon your scrub into a jar and keep in a dry place.
I advise exfoliating before you shower and using this as a lip scrub before putting on any lipstick to ensure a smooth application.
